PRWT Services Acquires Pharmaceutical Plant

Philadelphia-based PRWT Services Inc., has acquired a chemical manufacturing plant from Whitehouse Station, New Jersey-based Merck & Co. Inc. With the acquisition, the plant becomes the first minority-owned pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in the US.

The company has also entered into a five-year supply chain agreement with Merck. The value of that deal is estimated at $100 to $200 million annually.

The acquisition also propels PRWT from being a $77 million business to being close to a $300 million business.

‘The acquisition of the Cherokee plant is consistent with PRWT’s vision of growing the company by expanding into new markets, services, and lines of business,’ said Willie F. Johnson, PRWT’s chairman and chief executive officer.

Tabula Digita Announces Video Game Tournament for Educators

Educators will get the chance to compete in the inaugural State Challenge Multiplayer Educational Games (MEG) Tournament presented by Tabula Digita.

Using Tabula Digita’s award-winning DimensionM™ Evolver Multiplayer for Pre-Algebra and Algebra software, the competing educators, representing their home states, will go head-to-head using their math skills to advance through timed video games.

During this tournament, participants will use the Meltdown game – one of three games available in the Multiplayer Evolver software. By following the games’ storyline via a series of high-action missions, students, or in this case educators must be able to quickly demonstrate mastery of linear equations. In the other games, players are required to solve puzzles, defeat enemies, or uncover mysteries by using other math concepts like prime and greatest common factors, variables and expression or finding, plotting and inferring coordinates. All of the games are rich with content aligned to standards set by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics as well as several state standards. To move ahead, and ultimately win the tournament, the participants will have to navigate through numerous mathematical obstacles, compete against the other educators, and score the most points.

MC Hammer to Launch New Tech venture

M.C. Hammer whose real name is Stanley Kirk Burrell, has announced his latest project, a Web site called DanceJam.com, which he is co-founder and chief strategy officer.

The Web site, which is due to launch in mid-January, will try to upstage YouTube and become the Internet’s hub for sharing and watching dance videos.

DanceJam then hopes to make money by grabbing a piece of the rapidly growing Internet advertising market, which is expected to rake in $27.5 billion in 2008, according to eMarketer.

The line will launch with 10 styles: Ageless Beauty, ‘Black Majesty, Dynamite Diva, Enchanted Evening, Flame, and Sunday’s Best in synthetic hair; and Lady LaBelle, Lovely Lady, Patti Fab, and Sassy LaBelle in 100% human hair. Each will be available in a selection of stunning brunettes, reds and highlights, as well as in LaBelle’s custom blended colors.

In February, the full line will roll out in Especially Yours catalogs featuring LaBelle on the cover and supported by online sales. Prices will range from $49 for synthetic hair and $99 for premium human hairstyles.

Ephren Taylor Named National Spokesman for Millionaires in Training (MiT)

Megen Construction lands $67M contract

Through the Ohio Schools Facilities Commission, Megen Construction has been awarded a $67 million contract to manage two Greater Cincinnati school building projects. This is the largest single contract the company has ever received.

It will oversee a renovation and expansion at Butler Tech Career and Development Center in Fairfield Township. It will also manage the construction of new elementary and middle schools, and the renovation and expansion of a high school, for Batavia Local School District.

Megen Constuction was founded in 1993 by Evans Nwankwo. It has grown to become a reputable Construction Management firm in the Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Eastern Indiana area. The company posted 2006 revenues of $41.5 million. According to a news release.
